It takes about 15 to 20 minutes for the brain to get the message that the stomach is full. Think about that for a minute. When we eat very fast like most of us do we eat more than we need and that means we put on weight.
If we slow down and we get the message that we are full, we stop eating. But it's not all that simple is it?
To some people this habit of eating slow comes naturally and they take their time and enjoy their food. These people tend to be naturally slim. Some others tend to finish half of their plate before actually starting to taste the food! Are you one of these people?
If you are overweight and want to lose some, it might be a good idea to rethink how you think about food and eating altogether. Most of us have enough food, it's not limited so we don't really need to binge. However the majority of us do just that.
Here are a few reasons for slowing down:
* Better digestion
* Less quantity of food
* Weight loss
* More energy
* Less bloating
* More self esteem
* Learn self control
* Better overall health
* Lessens the risk of weight related health problems.
There are many more benefits from eating slowly. Changing your behavior can take some time, normally 30 to 40 days, but it can also completely change your life to the better. Try it for a week and see how you do!
Be careful not to be too hard on yourself if you slip up, just try better next time.
